I was very blessed to have been given the book "One Million Arrows" by Julie Ferwerda to review. In our 16 years of parenting we have read many books on raising children. I can honestly say that few have inspired and challenged me as this one has. It is full of ideas, testimonies, and inspiration for parents who desire their children to live their lives completely sold out for Jesus Christ.

It can be disheartening to look at the culture around us and see teens who are not living up to their potential. God has so much more planned for the lives of Believers no matter their age. "One Million Arrows" will encourage you and inspire to help your children choose God's best for their lives.

Will the world change our children...or will our children change the world? Time is short and lives are at stake. Right now, God is inviting our families to become part of a bigger story—a vision that will engage hearts to make a radical difference. One Million Arrows is an inspirational call to raise our kids to impact their culture, community, and world for Christ. If we want our kids to discover their purpose, if we want them to live with passion for the Kingdom, if we want our family to go down in His-Story, accept the mission...and leave a mark for eternity. I have so enjoyed everyone's pics of their Mother's Day! We had such a blessed weekend. My Mom and brother came and spent Saturday with us and we swam and swam ate and gabbed and ate some more and enjoyed them so much. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful family!

My children utterly spoiled me with love on Mother's Day. Their homemade cards, beaded jewels, hugs, kisses, and constant reminders of Happy Mother's Day made me so thankful for the blessing of being their Mama. It truly is a gift from God to have and know them all.

My SWEET Boys! Our little Philip/Cowboy is holding a little plastic spoon wrapped in tulle and candy that a sweet lady from church blessed me with. Such a simple thing but such a blessing from God. A few days ago Eben was making stir fry and using my spoon that is identical to the one she gave me, and he was distracted and melted half the spoon. He felt so badly. I could have cared less about the spoon and told him that, but he was still upset he ruined it. When the sweet lady gave me the spoon he absolutely beamed. I told him the Lord knew we needed another one :o)

I LOVE my girls!

My hard working hubby! He worked most of Saturday and then taught Sunday school at our church and then left to preach at another church. What a blessing he is!

So thankful for the blessing of family.

Oh be careful little ears what you hear..

Our 11 year old daughter came to me to tell me something our Sweet Pea had done.

I always try and be sensitive to our older children dealing with younger children and try and make sure the youngers are treating the olders with respect.

In this instance I felt like Sweet Pea had committed a "childish offense". I chalked it up to her being well....3. I tried to explain to my daughter that it surely wasn't a premeditated offense...

I said, "It's not like she did it and then gave you the evil laugh Mu-ah-ah-ah." (I confess, I love doing the evil laugh)..

My 11 year old daughter said, "Well, actually Mama..she did."

Me(Incredulously): "She gave you the EVIL laugh?"

Daughter "GIGGLING....Yes.."

I looked down at Sweet Pea and she gave me a BIG smile and then went.."Mu-ah-ah-ah.."

And the very chagrined judge found the defendant guilty. The evil laugh will hang you every time.

This morning the Little Fella woke up and said "Dude!" Anytime anyone would walk into the room he would look at them and say "Dude!" It was so cute . Being a little one with 7 older brothers he hears "Dude!" a lot.

His 10 year old sister gave him this hair-do when his hair kept getting in his eyes. The 7 older brothers were rather horrified. DUDE! HA!

It was a steamy 92 today , with the pool being closed for cleaning on Mondays, the kiddies were having fun in the water hose.

Sweet Pea kept filling up her bucket and pouring it on the Wee Boy's head.

He was flabbergasted by her behavior. Finally, he said, "WHY does she keep doing that?" I told him, "It's fun. You should try it."

He looked at me skeptically and then he gave it a whirl..

I think he's a believer. He spent the rest of the afternoon dousing anyone who entered the backyard with his little orange cone of water all the while laughing maniacally. I think I may have created a monster. If you see him coming at you with an orange cone of water..you just may want to run.

Yesterday was our Cowboy Philip's birthday. He turned 6. He was so excited. He is a "detail man" and planned for his brothers to all wear their Reebok outfits.

As we were heading out for pizza our 8 year old son asked me..

"Mama, what time of day was Philip born?"

I answered, "I don't know honey."

He replied, "You don't know?" He looked slightly befuddled as he said, "How can you not remember?"

I am sure I looked slightly befuddled as I said, "I wasn't there.."

A light dawned in his eyes and he said, "Ohhh..yeah. He was born in Ethiopia."

I thought of the hundreds of times I have been asked which children were "ours" and which ones were "adopted".

The truth of the matter is when someone is your son or daughter or brother or sister it matters not how one comes into the family. You just are family.
